Beauty to One

It was never easy to write on this topic. I had to brainstorm myself, talk to different people, take lonely walks around the streets in the dark – even a of times I was questioned by the policemen patrolling the area, “kyu neend nai aa rahi?” I just simply nodded to them. I tried listening music, gazing at the sky, reading about it and questioning myself about it, however, the answer was always as confusing as I have always been throughout my life.

What does beauty mean to me? Think you, idiot think. How hard can it be? It just a simple word but you have been so pathetic at this that compared to you other bloggers who have already posted on this topic seems to be working with NASA.

But this, beauty isn’t only a word. I feel it’s more like an emotion or feeling because that’s the only domain where even the smartest of human beings among us haven’t really defined/explained/elaborated word by word.

Beauty being a feeling, for me, gives me the liberty to change the definition of it as much as I can and to whatever I can. Some day, beauty is just a name for m (let’s not dig deep into the name ......... yea, you know I’m talking to you) and another day, it is just physical to me. Some day, the ugliest of feeling is beauty to me and something beautiful can be the ugliest on another day. Some day, it’s an attitude and some day, it’s just style. Some day, it’s just talking and some day, it’s just watching. Some day, it’s with thousands of people and someday, it’s just lying alone under the night sky. Some day, it’s the vast ocean and someday, it’s the drop dripping from a petal. Every body is trying to find a definition while writing it but I wish not to bind it into words.

I’m trying to close this post with a conclusion; however, I’m still as confused as I was when I started writing this. But, but.......i’m still going to end it with one word which comes closest to what I have felt in last 2-3 hours. And the word is ......... *drum rolls* “ATTITUDE”. An attitude has mainly attracted me in a real person and that’s what I’m going to go with as my definition of beauty.

This post is my entry for the Yahoo Real Beauty contest. Beauty is eternal.

Scared Noida

This place was way more safe and happy in my memories than it is now. When we used to go to the stadium, about a few blocks away from my place and still would come back with no fear in my heart.

But the streets aren't that safe now. 3 robbing cases with in 10 days that too on the same street again and again has sacred the locals here. People are afraid to take a walk on the streets after dinner. Nowadays, when i go the local park at 10-11 in the night, many a times, I'm the only one there. No one wants to come out in the open lonely even in the summer of Delhi.

Hoping for a better place to live.

Life's Not Easy

I'm not good at writing neither i intend to. This time too i'm trying to express. This goes out to one of my friend or a person, as we still need to hit that threshold which technically makes us friends. Any who, i know the person and more over i know what my friend is going through.

Life's not good and so not easy, at least to many a common people. It never turns out the way you want it to. But that's the way it has always been and we need get over it. I haven't seen even half the day light as much as my said to be friend has. But one thing i have learned in my life that nothing lasts long and neither will this. You will get out of it.

One thing which matters at this time are the decisions. First thing decisions should be that they should always be yours so that you have no one else to blame it to when they don't work out. Only bad decisions make a one grow.

And the last thing, to always be calm. Never take anger take over you.

I know that i suck at this and will never be good at this but i never give up. Think this is pretty cool. Well, even i don't know what I'm doing but i felt really good in my head. But, i do feel good after this. I hope i could help.

It's Here

The father of all the matches is here. Yea, India plays Pakistan in the Semi Final of the 10th Cricket World Cup. As an Indian, I'm so excited that i can't even sleep. It feels exactly like the day before picnic in school. I used to be so excited that i would always have the nightmare of missing my school bus. But, thank god, that never happened and hoping this time too, the nightmare won't come true.

Another reason which makes this particular game so important and much awaited for me is that I'll be watching this game with all of my colleagues at work. My firm has decided to arrange an big projector so that all of us can gather and enjoy the game. I haven't seen a match with this many people sitting in the same room. Though i have seen a match at the stadium but this will be completely different. This time I'm neither carrying any banners nor i'll be painting my face.

Well, that's the update for the day or till next time.

Being With Mr. Chandler Bing

Well as always, i was watching one of Friends episode, which i always do to relax and take my mind off the world and my life. One thing which hit me while watching FRIENDS this time and also which i never ever thought of was how tough would it be to be in Monica Gellar-Bing shoes.

Living a life time with a funny guy. Funny guy, who isn't good with emotions. The one who replaces all of his emotions with a joke. Living with the fear that the funny guy may never grow up. Funny is good but for lifetime, i mean there are times one had to be tough. No wonder, Chandler wasn't Ross and Rachel's first choice to give their baby to after they die.

I know loving the guy helps but it needed a women like Monica who can bring all this together. It's not that i feel sad for Chandler, he's a great man and my favorite of the group but women are more into mature guys. Man, to say is correctly. Chandler Bing, man, you were lucky to get Monica as your life partner.

I wanted to end this post with something big or good to say, but i think, i'll be selfish again and be optimistic about another Monica around somewhere in the world.

Things lately

It's not like I'm not missing blogging and writing things out of my system. Even today, I'm doing the same, but nowadays, i find something or someone to keep me busy and blogging just takes a step back. I would love to get back to my blogging family and read them all everyday, however, I'm just not in the same place as i was last year when i had all the time in world to dedicate to my blog.

I do miss not been able to write, mostly after watching a good great movie or after an experience or anything because that's how i always blogged and what i blogged about.

Though, it did hit me to quit but then i thought, i won't gain by quitting but i'll surely loose something which i have been holding on to for past 4 years now. My blog is one of those few cherished/achieved things i have in my life.
And then, where will i share my first's. I mean, I'm still going to have a lot of first's. There's a lot for me to be experience, to see, to feel and to live. And what place better than my own blog.

I know blogs are loosing their touch because of all the facebook and twitter likes, but, i think blogs will hit back like the FM radio did. I may not be consistent and frequent but a time/phase in my life when I'll blog frequently as i was last year. But for that, my blog and my life had to wait.

Any who, for those few people who read me, just a reminder, this won't gonna end. You all will get those bugging updates and subscription mails reminding that this blog is still alive.

See, No Knee Caps !!!!

It’s been more than a month now and finally, I’m off my physiotherapy sessions and can take my knee caps off. Past one month was the best of my life as I was denied to play or run, which I found, how much I liked/loved.

The injury goes back to 30th of December 2010. We had a company outing. I was excited to be on this trip unlike many others as they had been to these trips earlier. Me being the new one in the company and the team wanted to know more and most of the people and these outings are really a great chance to know the who’s who of the company.

Moving on, as soon as we reached the place, I was able to find a cricket pitch with all the equipments. It’s like a moth to the flame. I automatically find them. J

However, it’s wasn’t the best of outing on the ground for me as I got injured or ruptured on of the cartilage in my knee. It would have been less painful if I hadn’t ignored it. But, I do get out of control on the field. I thought of it as a minor pain which will get over in moments but it didn’t. After the game, I wasn’t even able to bend my knee and it was really painful and thus, I ruined my outing.

Eventually, I had to take an off the other day which clubbed to be a three day off which helped a lot. But, still it wasn’t enough. I consulted to an Orthopedic, who told me that I had a ruptured cartilage which has swollen and started the painful days. Although, I wasn’t suggested a complete bed rest but think that would have been much better. For the next one month, till the physiotherapy lasted, I couldn’t take stairs or if had to, then had to climb one step at a time.

But, at the end (hoping this is the end), I can now again run, be not dependent on elevators and most importantly, I can play again. Even though, I’m not a professional in this game, but I surely love it a lot.

And this is it, I’m done with the medication and exercises and life is back to normal.

Hey, by the way, the Cricket World Cup is starting by next week 19th Feb 2011. I’m going to be glued to the TV. What’s your plan?

Two Brave Girls

I’m a feminist and admired many women for what they did for the people, may it be the nation or their own family. However, there have been very few instances where I have seen a woman doing something better than a man. I’m not comparing or complaining, however, I do think that there are certain things which men to better than women and similarly, there are many things which women do better than men.

I have seen men doing things to prove them better than women or women trying to beat men in their own den. I think many of the women and men have succeeded in their attempts, however till now, I haven’t seen a single living example.

But this is about those two exceptions. The two exceptions who proved, at least to me, that it isn’t about being a guy or a gal, it’s about having a big heart filled with helluva courage.

The story is about me traveling from one part of India to another and meeting two girls, (women, if you will) whom I added to my exceptions list. I boarded the train from half way of the train’s total journey with 24 more hours of journey left.

Girl One

She was a south Indian girl from Bangalore and travelling to Delhi to catch another train to meet her husband in Punjab which is more than 2500 km. She was physically disabled (crippled). I didn’t get into the technicalities of it like when and how did it happen and seriously, you wouldn’t have too as she was happy go lucky kind of girl that I wasn’t, even for a second, serious with her. We were all joking and enjoying the wonderful journey. She was travelling alone in a condition in which I would haven’t have taken a single step without a helping hand. Then, to be brave enough to be travelling alone, knowing how dangerous it can be especially in Northern India were the crime rate against women in more than other parts.

Girl Two

She was from Northern India and coming from Bangalore, again to Delhi and then to Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir. For her, the journey was for more close to 72 hours. I’m not a traveler and don’t enjoy traveling large distances. I’d rather stay home or take a flight. But this girl was different. This may not sound brave or courageous to some/many but I surely seemed to me. She travelled 72 hours more than 3000 kms that too without a confirmed seat which means she didn’t a reserved seat in the train and had to travel sitting/lying anywhere she saw an open space. I thought this was stupid at first as I would have never travelled without a reserved ticket. She told me that she had done this a lot of times earlier too. She, again, was traveling alone. I was amazed to see the confidence and courage to move freely in a man dominated world.

Well, I bow to these girls and they may not read this or know it, but I admire their guts. I wish to match their courage one day. Glad that i'm still connected to them via FB. We exchanged number before we got down at the last station.

Like To Love

How many times have you said the latter "L" word to someone...... with purest intent? How do you know if it's the latter "L" not the first one?

I have heard it from many that when the latter "L" happens..... you will the first person to know and contrary to that many people say that you may not recognize it at the same time. Well, they never helped me - the already hell of a confused person. Someone told me to read about it as they feel many a people have written it better than said. So, i tried reading but let me take this opportunity to announce that i suck at reading. I can't read a single page without getting distracted. Obviously, this didn't work out.

I went on to ask people who claim to be part of a true "true" relationship. I asked the same question again, "how do you know....... that now you love the guy/girl?". At the end of the answers, one thing i knew was it's not a day or two thing....... it takes a lot of time and patience. Love at first sight is something which happens to actors on screen and characters in love stories.

I can say that i learned a lot by talking to different people and getting to know what they think of the latter "L" word. Even though, i almost don't believe in the latter "L" but yea, want to be a part of it once in my life.

Home, Trips and Job

It’s been an eventful month and half. Life has taken turns and twists and finally, it seems that I’m heading towards the right way.

Jaivan - Said to be the biggest Cannon of that time. It was fired only once with a 50 Kgs Cannon ball and 100 Kgs of Gunpowder was used.

I’m back at home after, living alone and away from family and friends, almost a year and half. I took a months vacation from working and spent it with my family and friends, took a couple of road trips to two of the most historic cities of India – Agra and Jaipur. And after a month long vacation, I’m back at work, though in a new firm and a new location, which is closer to home, meaning I don’t have to live away from my home.

Let me start from the day I came back. After reaching home, I was overwhelmed by the reactions people gave me. Reactions from family was obvious but from friends was quite unexpected. My friends took time out of their daily working schedule to meet me at my home. I had my next 4 weekends planned with in 24 hrs after I landed home. Then, I got so many messages and online wishes from so many of my online friends on my birthday, whom I really miss now because, nowadays I spend like zero hrs online and reading blogs compared to the amount of time I gave when I was in Bangalore. I will have to blame it on my friends to whom I was eager to meet after a long time.

Moving on, I got lucky when I got to go on two road trips with my friends. I love road trips and India being such a huge country and diverse, even I was surprised by the things we saw on our road trips. Things which we had only heard of but never seen. First road trip to Taj Mahal was a hit. I would say the best part of the trip was that we were only three friends on this trip and three make a good group and more can make a crowd. Any who, this was the second time I saw Taj. Then last weekend, we were in Jaipur and after we reached there, we heard Freida Pinto and Dev Patel were in the town too. But we had everything planned and were on jam packed schedule that they didn’t get to meet us. Poor them.

Coming to the third event, yup, the new job. Best thing about this job is that it’s closer to home and is good for my skill set. Hope to find some good work here and that this firm helps me get what I want.

The city of Jaipur as seen from Jaigarh

Well, I hope this post pretty much explains why I have been out of scene for some time. Also hope to be here more however there are thin chances but will make appearances.

P.S. :- It’s marriage season in India these days plus there are lot of auspicious dates around next couple of weeks. I have received a lot of invitations of my relatives and friends getting married. I haven’t attended a single wedding from last two years, so I’m pretty excited about.

Aamer Fort - It's huge. Loved it. Jodha Akhbar - the movie was shot here.

Three Out Of Five

I don't know if you'd understand the metaphor behind the title i gave this topic just by reading it, however, there is a slightest of chance of you really understanding it, if you have a older sibling. But, understanding the title right now isn't important....... but i surely hope to justify it by the end of this post.

This post is dedicated to my older sibling. My bro.

I was sitting, hoping for the journey to end soon, when i saw two little boys running up and down in the aisle of train. As soon as the small one falls and gets upset, the older one comes back, picks him up and takes him along with him. And the little one did it a couple of times and i knew it was intentional because as they say "been there done that".

It reminded me of the days when we used to play together. It’s been a really long time since that happened last time. We both are huge fans of cricket, but I now when I think about it, feels as if he induced it into me. However, I really thank him for that because after all the game has become a big part of my life.

I don’t have any huge or life changing memories of me and my bro but I do remember a lot of small ones like the day he banged the bike into a pillar when I was sitting behind and hurt really bad. Like the days when our parents used to leave us alone at home and I used to sit/lie and watch cartoons whole day and he used to do all the chores.

Whenever there was something which couldn’t be divided equally ..... I was the one to get 3 out of 5. May be its something all older sibling do or may be not but this is something I learned from him.

No wonder I grew up to be spoiled but that’s cause I always knew that I have someone to look back to. Some one I can always fall back on. I know I may have taken him and still taking him a lot granted but I’m trying to improve and trying to be independent.

Hope to be the guy he can always fall back on.

You know You Are In Delhi When

You know You Are In Delhi When

1-    You are blown away by the heat waves as soon as you step in Delhi.
2-    The cabbie talk to you in a language which you think is Hindi but it’s no way near what you have heard before.
3-    You have 14 all Hindi songs playing FM channels.
4-    When you feel more dust in air then air it self.
5-    When you see chains of malls and shopping centers around the places.
6-    When you see homes and apartments built around the flyovers and metro tracks. (PS:- Glad that Metro tracks aren’t on ground level... or else people would have started using it for pooping by now)
7-    When instead of going into some super/ hyper mart, the vegi vendor directly comes to your home.
8-    When you have cattle, owned by someone living in the lane next to your lane, pooping right in front of your home.
9-    When you find more cars than the homes.
10-    When you find cars playing English hip hop or Punjabi songs when they don’t even understand it.
11-    When you see people, kind enough, who buy loud music systems, just so that their neighbors can listen to it.
12-    When you kids playing in the streets or on the roads just because all the parks around the city have been converted into jogger’s parks.
13-    When you “mother dairy” booths in every block.
14-    When you find more “Sun and Shade’s” than air conditioned saloons.
15-     When you see a concrete jungle around you.
16-    When you can sweat by taking a walk even at 10 in the night.
17-    When you see the malls flooded by people at 10 in morning when none of the shops is open.
18-    When you find people who eat at their home and crap in the malls and that too a different mall every tie because they have 3-4 malls just at walking distance.
19-    When you see rickshaw wala wearing the same Tee as yours.
20-    When you see people driving in the residential areas as if it’s a highway/freeway.
21-    When it seems that the local language of Delhi isn’t Hindi but Gharwali/Kumaoni.

But you still love Delhi/Noida because it’s home. Home is the place that can’t be replaced. Well, that won’t be entirely true because the big fat Delhi dream is also to move out of this shity place and live abroad like the states or Europe and people do take Africa/Australia. But when they leave home and go out then only they (read me) realize that it’s not the city that they loved or miss, it’s the people they miss.

Letter to Future Me (2020)

Hey Future Me,

The first thing I want to start with is that I hope that the life then wouldn’t be as lousy as it is right now.

I haven’t really clearly decided on different kinds of questions like what to do and where to be, but hoping you would have it all cleared up then. Really hope you don’t suck at decision making by now. You have been the most suckiest person when it comes to decision making that I have ever seen in my life. I mean even Yuvraj singh makes better decision when playing towards off side then you. OMG, you suck more than Yuvraj Singh. Congrats on touching the new level of sucking present me.

Okay, moving on. You must still be fan of Ameesha Patel and Drew Barrymore, until and unless, you are married to one, then the first condition is void. Well not going to talk about it much now..... you know why.

And one thing that you have to make sure is to buy a Harley Davidson or if you still can’t afford it then you should surely have the Indian brother for Harley Davidson – Royal Enfield.

You should still be in love with movies. I mean you should have a big, huge mountain of all the favorite movies DVD, unless, somebody invents something better to store data into.

Hoping that you must be multi-lingual by then and don’t have to struggle while talking to people from different parts of Indian or other countries.

You must be friends with all the people with whom i’m right now. This is not optional. I have had great friends and family and you better be not broken up with any one of them.

AND THE MOST IMPORTANT.

If humans have perfected time travel by then and you own one of the time machines, then tap me on the head on 21 hrs:10 mins:30 secs on 1st October 2010.

Okay, I waited 3 mins for that tap and it didn’t came so I assume that you don’t have the time machine or may be humans haven’t perfected it till then. Damn it.

Well, these are the things on top of my mind right now. Will keep you posted if anything comes up. Hope to see you soon.

Practical

This small incident happen to me this Sunday which was quite strange to me as this was the first time i have experienced it. So here it goes.

Me and my roommate went out to shop for some daily stuff and all. When we were returning, one guy who looked educated, nicely dressed, approached us. But as soon as he opened his mouth, we could smell alcohol on his breath. He was drunk at 10 AM.

He stops us and started talking. He asked for some help. He was so drunk that he was fumbling all the time he was talking but was able to stand firmly on his feet. After, all the philosophical ramblings and stories, he started and which never ended, he asked for money. I have heard about this earlier as some of my friends have experienced it. So, i was firm and told him that i won't give him any money. Especially, when i was sure that he will take that money and drink more.

The strangest thing he said to me was, "Now, you're talking like an American" when i denied to give him money. And i was like, what is so American about this? I'm not at all emotional and have a pretty practical thinking in life. I didn't even feel pity for the guy. He was a well educated guy as we had the whole conversation in English and not in Hindi or any Indian Language. He said that he worked in some MNC as an quality analyst which means he must be financially capable enough to not beg people for Rs 30, which my friend, who i think got emotional[acc. to me] and Indian [acc. to him] gave him at the end. And he maintained, i was too rude and emotionless, i think.

I know, i'm practical and don't think much with my heart and this isn't the first time i have heard this. But i still think, this is a better way of living then being an Emotional Fool.

Martial Arts

I recently saw the new Karate Kid movie. It an amazing story. Even though, i have seen the earlier one but still i was thrilled about the new movie. I think, i started liking martial arts like Kung Fu, Karate, etc after watching them on TV or theater. I saw the movie. It is like a Cinderella story. I loved every bit of it and can confirm that if they make another karate kid, i'll will surely watch that one too.

As a kid, i thought of learning martial arts. But that was only because i felt it was cool. A cool way of defending yourselves. I used to go to the stadium where some people used to conduct Martial arts training. I sued to play cricket there but liked to sit down sometimes to watch the people practicing during my breaks.

There were times when i borrowed some of friends Martial arts DVD so that i can practice at home but i was much bigger fan of cricket to continue with martial arts. It was just a fling which flung as soon as the Karate Kid movie became old. But, watching the new Karate Kid movie brought all that excitement and love for martial arts back but it's still a fling.

The Month Of August

Don't know how this month started but the end is killing me. Right now, i feel like i standing in an empty room and all the four wall are closing into me. It's getting really scary here. There have been days when i thought of leaving everything and running away. The days when i had no confidence in me or what i was doing. When everything looked going downwards. Days when everyone, doing anything seemed stupid. Days when watching FRIENDS on felt stupid.

But, this isn't the first time this is happening to me. I have been through the worse and me writing this post means that i have made it through. I won't say, this is the worst i have been through but this is will make it to be one of worst list.

Next 10 days are very crucial. I need to patient for this. I'll trying to hold on but i can't see me holding it that long but it's still worth a try or let me rephrase it "what other options do i have" .

If, will make it through, there will be a big .... a really big announcement, here.

Holding On

Co-ordinates Changed

Hey all,

It's been a hell of hectic week. There have been many changes especially i have moved to a new place, though the new place is not more than 10 blocks away from my last home. But i had to move to the new place in the night. Yea, I was planning to move the next day but then my friend called and says why don't you move today, then, you won't have to take a day off from office. I liked the idea. Anyways, I didn't want to miss a day of my office life.
So, I started moving at 9 PM in the night. I couldn’t take the whole stuff at a single time so I had to be back for another turn. Then, I had to clear all my bills like laundry, food etc.
I know this may not sound exciting to you but it was for me. This will be counted among one of my those days when I took ad hoc decisions like when last time we decided to go to the beach which was more than 600 KM from our home.

I don’t often take these kinds of decisions. Though, this kind of ad hoc decision may be risky but it brings so much of dynamism in one’s scheduled life. I have always believed that scheduled life in boring life and that’s why I’m up looking for something new, something off schedule.

By the way, i'm moving in with a friend, which is like a change to me after living with strangers for close to an year now.

My Best Friend – A Short Story

My Best Friend – A Short Story

The incident I’m describing is from my school days. It was the winter of January

It was an icy cold night of February in Delhi. I was crying in the corner of my room as my mother was shouting on me. It wasn’t my mom shouting mom which made me cry, it was the reason for which she was shouting at me. I had lost my tuition bag and my Science and English textbooks along with it. I felt as if my whole world had fallen. I had no idea what to do. I year end examination were due in 15 days. I thought, I’d take one of my friend’s notebooks and copy the notes. But that didn’t seem as a feasible idea. I can’t ask my school friends for notebooks, where the hell would they study from? I can’t ask for my tuition mates for help as they had their exams lined up in a couple of weeks too. Copying notes from one to other textbook wasn’t going to be an easy job too. It would at least take 3 days of time. Then, I talked to chachi (Aunt), who used to live with us (we were kind of joint family), to copy one subject’s note for me, as she had the best handwriting in my family.

But still, I didn’t have the notes to copy from. I knew every hour I was loosing was precious and had to come up with a solution really soon. I know, this was the time to test my friends but I didn’t want to do it. I was scared of the fact that what will happen if they don’t help? This would certainly create some issues between me and my friends. Though, I completely understand that gives your notebooks to someone else, when your exams are hanging on your head, wasn’t only their own decision. I knew many of my friends mothers wouldn’t allow them to do that. No body wants their kid of suffer because of some other dumb ass, irresponsible kid.

Well, yea, you guessed it correctly. I thought about it more than I did. I made up my mind that my friends won’t help me without even asking them for help. And, yes, I’m still as confused as that kid was in 8th standard.

The day after, I’d lost my bag; I was sitting in my room and getting frustrated. Cursing my fate, abusing god and whomsoever, I could blame it on. Then, somebody knocked on the door. I opened it and there she was. Yea, even I was surprised. I hadn’t seen her since 5th standard, when I changed school. Even though, she livid a couple of blocks away from my place, we kind of drifted apart after I moved to new school. We were good friends but ‘school’ good friends. Even during my earlier school life, there were rare chances I went to her home or she came to mine.
I couldn’t believe her sitting in front of me. But, to top that, I couldn’t believe what she did for me. She brought her Science and English notebooks and not for me to copy from them. She gave the notebooks to me. Even though, we studied in different school but our schools were CBSE affiliated, thus, were following the same syllabus.

Me: - I’ll copy them and return ASAP
Her: - No need to copy. Return them after your exams are over
Me: - But, what about your exams?
Her: - Don’t you remember? We have exams in mid April in this school.

She told me that my mom met her, early in the morning, at the Mother Dairy and asked if she could help. Then, I realized how perfectly the issue was solved without anyone suffering.

I don’t know and still can’t figure it out that if she was best friend. But, on that day, for me she was a godsend. I used to be good at studies but thanks to her, I stood second in my class that year. But, things went normal again. I didn’t see much of her again, other than the few moments of me passing by her on the road and her passing the smile. The last time I heard about her was when she was getting married.

I thought this would be the easiest topic to write about. But, it’s proving to be such a pain in the rear. Actually, this is all happening cause this is the first time I’m trying to categorize my friends as best, good and not-so-good friends. It’s because of the same reason it’s so difficult to choose one especial person from a huge group of people.

Sam And Frodo

The choice, really, isn’t easy for me. I had to go really deep down memory lane to recollect all those instances when and where someone became my savior for the day. Who is that one person? Can it be my friend who got beaten up, for the thing I did, by the teacher and he didn’t blame it on me. Can it be my friend who helped me with my studies, even if helping me, at that moment could have affect S’s own results? Or is it the person who trusts me more than anyone and shares secrets with me?

I tried searching internet for a definition of a Best Friend, so that, I can fit in one person from my life to it and see if he/she matches the ideal/best friend’s arguments. But friend/best friend is one term/word which even google couldn’t define.

So, to come out of this dilemma, I choose, which can be categorized as THE lamest question, the “Who is that one person (friend) I’d take with me to a deserted island??”

The only name which came to my mind was of S’s. S is one person who has always been there. S is my “I’ll be there for you” person. Some one who’d always be there when I look behind. S has never bored me. S is the only person with whom I can converse with more than 5 mins without getting distracted. S is the person who picks my calls even if I call at 2 in the midnight.
Chandler and Joey

S and I go long back. We were school classmates. I exactly remember the day when I joined my new school and my class teacher told me go sit with S as she knew me and S come from same locality and that I knew S before. We spent 7 great school years together. We used to spend the whole summer vacation together, if, not waiting for each other to return. It’s difficult to describe how we came close and how the bond became stronger. It wasn’t just one moment which changed everything. It was an effort we both had put, over the years, in every moment, every other day to build up the trust we share today.

Today, it’s been exactly one year and three months since I left my home (1st May 09). But, cause of S, I never feel alone in this city even when I’m living alone here. S told me to call S whenever and whatever it is about and it was S’s word which S always stood by. I don’t miss here in Bangalore because S is the first person I talk to whenever I’m alone.

Jai And Veeru

S is my “Morale Booster”. I gave S the nick name “morale booster” a couple of months ago. It was, again, one those “not my best” days coupled with lonely night in Bangalore. I called up S as usual and we had which I described THE best conversation, though I don’t remember all of our conversations but this one is definitely going to be with me for a long time. I was low because of all the happy news I was hearing about my friends like someone getting promoted, another getting married, one becoming a father and then someone buying a home. That day S told me, “When you are aiming for success, it’s the direction which matters not the pace”. This raised my confidence to the highest level for next 3 days before my fickle nature again brought it down. I don’t know how S does it, but it seems pretty easy for S to induce confidence in me, though, S is still working on making it last longer.

I know S isn’t an extraordinary person. You don’t have to be to touch someone’s life. Friendship is a beautiful relationship. Your friends are reflections of how good are you at decision making. Yea, it’s filmy to say but you choose your friends and being friend with S is one decision which proves that I don’t suck at decision making. I’ll also take it as a reference of my decision making skill.

I still don’t know what’s a definition of a best friend? But, for time being, I think I’ll leave it off at “S”.

Men Are Dogs

Well, I have been told this a lot of times but until this day, it was never proven. The story I’m writing below proved to me that guys can and will do anything to everything for a girl.

The story is about my friend. He and his “said to be Girlfriend” were in the same batch of the same college. I knew the guy because of a couple of mutual friends. To quote the guy, “I fell for the girl in just one look. It was love at first sight.”

Yea, he was a jerk and at the end you’ll know it too. This girl, whom he always called his girlfriend, never called him his boyfriend in public. They were committed and in a relationship but unfortunately on in public. Whenever asked by other class mates about their relationship, she always denied it and to top it all, she used to go out with other guys too. Yea, the girl was to smart or my friend was a jackass (I have another word to describe the guy but not using it to maintain some decency). But, after college hours are over, the girl used switch mode to his girl friend. She used to go out with him, used to call him over to her home when nobody was around for some ding-dong and used to call him and talk to him everyday from 11-2 PM.

Well, outside college premises, she was the perfect girl friend but what happened to her outside it was a mystery to us and to the guy. We persuaded the guy and convinced him to ask her for a “show cause notice” for not admitting of their relationship publically. So, one day, he recollected all the courage and self-respect (which he lost in the relationship) and asked her in the question:-

BF: - Why didn’t you tell A about our relationship?
GF: - Why does it matter so much to you? Chuck it.
BF: - No, I want an answer today. It’s been more than a year since we started seeing each other and still you are denying our relationship. You didn’t even tell it to the B, when he proposed to you. What are you trying to do?
GF: - Why are you concerned about what others think? You know we are together, then why all these questions?

After, confronting her and a heated discussion, the guy out of rage called her “bitch” and “whore”. In reply, the girl bitch slapped the guy. P.S. All this happened, in the college canteen with more than 50 people. This was the last time they talked.

The girl took the breakup much better than the guy which reflected on the semesters results. The girl excelled with distinction and the guy failed in all five subjects leading to a year back which means he had to repeat the year.

It’s difficult to describe what he went through. This was the worst case of bad romance I had seen, obviously, excluding, a couple of honor killings I saw.

But, this love story made me learn that you should never love a girl to such an extent that she can easily sabotage your life like this. I heard this song on Facebook called “Facebook is a stupid Idiot”; well, for me “Love is also a stupid idiot”.
