Toilet For Babli

During our early years of childhood, we all would go for a family trip to my paternal home/village. Being from the far and remote land of Uttranchal, the fun of spending the whole vacation at a place where we did not have regular connection to electricity, would walk about half a kilometer to fetch drinking water and poop in the open was equivalent to the amount of discomfort, if not less.

Though for us, being children and boys, pooping in the open wasn't the worst thing. After a few days of embarrassment, we would kind of start taking proud of doing it. When back in Delhi/NCR, I would boast of the my "pooping-under-the-open-sky" stories among my friends. The fun stories where we would, after being already warned many times by the neighbors, would poop in their paddy field.

But it did not take much of time for me to realize, why wouldn't it be the best arrangement for the ladies and girls of family. The same would be an unfeasible option after the sun sets, when the reptiles and insects in the fields wouldn't even visible easily. Especially, for the locals of the village, it wasn't an experience but a suffering which was ignored over the years by the men of the family. Men of the family, who would direct them to the backyard of the house or to a lonely field, but wouldn't make an effort towards saving their dignity.

But, don't know triggered it, probably government policies or general awareness (if you want to believe) that one year when we were back in the village for vacation, we had a small walled compartment just beside our home which was marked "toilet". I wouldn't say I was happy to use it as it wasn't the nearly close to the arrangements like in cities, however, it was still a relief from pooping in the open. However, small construction like the one we had, cleared the threshold as more and more families adopted the concept of "walled toilets".

After being past the experience, I would and have always suggested and promoted the "walled toilets". I'm here adding my experience and support towards Domex's effort towards making India villages an "open defecation" free.

You can bring about the change in the lives of millions of kids, thereby showing your support for the Domex Initiative. All you need to do is “click” on the “Contribute Tab” on www.domex.in  and Domex will contribute Rs.5 on your behalf to eradicate open defecation, thereby helping kids like Babli live a dignified life.

Be part of the change. Show Domex you support on twitter by following them @DomexIndia and be part of the awareness and twitter conversation with #ToiletForBabli.

SkyScanner's SkyScanning

What makes those experiences special which last in our memories for years? Well, it’s not a simple question to answer. Frankly and possibly, this is the first I’m trying to find an algorithm for this “Chemical X”. Let me start then, from the first to the last step.

The meet was started 24 hours when Indiblogger and Skycanner announced contest for the best travel selfie. It started showing soon in my twitter feed and many a Indibloggers started tweeting. I also couldn’t resist the amazing prize of the contest and tweeted a few 7 selfies. I did get a few retweets and favourites from fellow Indibloggers, which started the Skyscanner meet for me on twitter.

The venue - Le Meridien, is possibly the best venue I have came across and I have been to 14 different Indiblogger meets. It has this huge hall which accommodated the biggest Indiblogger meet till now, close to 400 Indiblogger. The lunch was delicious, sumptuous and very well organised too.

The people - I always believe, people around you make the experience special and the bloggers crowd was nothing less than a rockstar. All the people sitting around the table with me were energetic and full of enthusiasm. We were all together laughing at every joke, dancing when asked to, cheering loudly, listening to every point of view presented and enjoying every moment.

Presentations – All presentation and promotions were, gladly, short and precise. Skyscanner promoted their product/webpage in the best concise manner. They rightfully promoted their best features – “Everywhere” and “Monthly and Yearly”- instead of hogging time for commonly found services.

Contests – All the games we played individually or with teams were another reason why this meet was special. The prizes were special too. Actually, I and my team won the team amazing “around-the-world” treasure hunt contest too. This was the first ever team win for me at Indiblogger meets.

Even after writing more than 300 words, I still can point to one reason which puts the Skyscanner meet among the top few. I would give it up to everyone at the meet, the sumptuous lunch, the crazy content we won and new exciting people I met.

I Wished - Your Wish My App

So, I got a mail from Indiblogger, while sipping coffee in a conference room at my office. I tried reaching the Indiblogger webpage and register, but damn the network service which left me high. I couldn't leave the room for another half hour and it, seriously, was killing me. After leaving the room, I rushed to my work station and registered for the event and called by friend / fellow blogger to register too. I was lucky too, cause, the number of seats left after me registering went into single digits.

After grabbing some deep breathes, I looked at the complete mail about the event and its agenda. That's when I got to know that the event was sponsored by Nokia, who were also backing "Your Wish My App" season 2. Now, I do remember the season one of #YWMA, cause it gave me the chance to see Rajiv Makhni and Chetan Bhagat face to face. Yup, face to face means face to face. I was asked to sit in the audience for the Season Final of #YWMA, which was this huge wave innovation coming across in Delhi from several and very different cities of India.

So, to be at an event, which also marked the official start to the #YWMA season 2, was thrilling. This offered me another chance to meet Rajiv Makhni, who also told me that he recognizes me from another event, Vikas Khanna, you better know him and if not, stopping reading and leave, and Vishal Gondal, the witty/sarcastic entrepreneur. Even though, we reached late for the event, but what happened next installed my faith in god. At start, we had to stand at the back, as all the seats were taken. But then Poonam Kaul, Nokia, appears from heaven with a halo invites people to move to front to the bean bags. AND WE GOT THE BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE.

With best seats, I was all geared up and the event was nothing less than an absolute laughter riot. Rajeev with his funny stories, Vikas with his innocence and Vishal with his sarcasm and wit. The wired discussions between Rajeev and Vikas, Vikas's responses to Vishal and Rajeev and Vishal playing to his reputation of being the bad-ass judge. Two best thing about the whole #YWMA Indiblogger meet was the chemistry and amazing sense of humor among the all three judges/host/celebs.

I did hear a lot about Vikas before the event, though, I found him way better than described. It's not cause others weren't or I'm being paid to write for him, it's simply because he was. I was not a fan of Vikas's but after the event, I'm and have been following him on Fox Traveller.

Even though, I didn't win or get anything this time around, but I went home with an evening filled with laughter, heart filled with memories of meeting Vikas Khanna and Rajeev Makhni (Vishal - let's give it one more chance) and tummy filled with delicious dinner at the Oberoi Hotel.

Here's wishing to be in the stands again at the #YWMA season 2 finale.

Indiblogger - Delhi Meet / We Loved Rajiv Makhni

It was the Indiblogger Meet in Delhi today............. I think, I did write about it a week earlier. Any who, it was great which I believe, is becoming a pattern with the blogger meets these guys are organizing. Well, actually, they had planned for two Bloggers meet - one and also the first was for the Women bloggers sponsored by Dove and other sponsored by Spice Mobiles. So, a lot of women bloggers over stayed and made it - by far the largest gather of Bloggers under one roof that Indiblogger have organized in Delhi and I believe, we may have crossed the all time record too.

About the Meet

The high points of the meet where the opening welcome by Anoop (The zombie) from the Indiblogger team and  everything just went up and up after that. Rajiv Makhni - the famous guy from GADGET GURU - took it over from there and then, taken to new heights by Karan Singh, of whom I hadn't hear of earlier but won't be forgetting after today. Rajiv with his wit and presence of mind hosted and kept the show high though out the time and Spice mobile offering free phones, helped him pretty well. Karan Singh, the mind reader, only god and few intelligent people in this world know how he played games with people's mind. I have not seen anybody do that kind of stuff - LIVE. And performing LIVE isn't easy.

These were all high points. A few low points were the discussion in which I was involved about "Mobile Security". I could see people all sitting in front of me were eyeing me as if they are counting the ribs they were going to break after it. This is caution note cause if you see people talking trash and cursing me for those painful moments...... yea, I know it... it was painful for me too.... I lived them too.

I thing which upset me most was not getting my "30 seconds of Fame" and probably, would have disappointed a few others too. So, a big BOO HOO for that from me.

I wish I had some pics to share but I have a bad camera and don't want to ruin the image I have created, probably.

Anywho, to finish it up, it was the BEST Indimeet I have attended and mind it cause this was my sixth IndiMeet....... how many have you attended huh..... ????? huh ????????

I Can't Go On, I'll Go On

I have no idea why I picked this title for the post, possibly, it won't be relevant to the things I'll be keying ahead. But, that's what I believe is the title about, doing the things you like, even though, you suck greatly at'em.

Any who, after working for two successive weekends, which doesn't mean I didn't on the weekdays, I had a weekend of this time. I kind of enjoyed it - my style. Went for dinner a few good places. Laid back and saw a few movies I had in my collection of movies-to-be-seen. But it was the news I got sometime in the evening on Sunday. Its about the next Indblogger meet to be held in Delhi, which a bit unusual cause they don't do Delhi this time of the year and cause the Indi team doesn't like the heat of the Delhi at this time of the year.

Well, hoping that this time the Indimeet won't be lonely as was the last one which is why missed the Bangalore Indimeets as i have attended 3 Indimeets there and a few people know me by my name.

Also, the reason for this post just to announce that this space ........ is not dead......and I have taken up my blog again and many of you people will be seeing a lot of this blog around the places soon.

Gratitude

Last 24 hours have been really good for be, especially as a blogger/online me.

First, i got this mail from Indiblogger's admin yesterday, saying, i have won a consolation prize for my entry for the contest "Emotional Attyachar", which, by the way, i was not expecting because my entry wasn't even in the top 10 entries but yes in the top 20. Whatever, i don't care....... i won i won......

Second, i got recognition from one of my blogger friends - June Zach from Fledgling Blogger. As greatful and glad i'm to June for listing me on his list of " Blogs that inspire me", but he also included my blog in the list of seven bloggers, who are celebrities in the bloggers world. Others in the list were Eli Gatanela of "Business Sphere" and the page "Vanilla Seven" - who would also make my list of my fav blogs too. Thanks, June for your support, you have been a great supporter of me and my blog.

Third, "The Way It Is" , that's my blog's name, celebrates Marzie M. Nor or Mariuca or Marzie's birthday. She also makes my list of my favorite bloggers in the likes of June Zach, Monica Yong to name a few. Marzie has been a great supporter of my blog. I remember her buying Entrecard advert on my blog even when i was taking a 2-3 month long break from entrecard dropping. I know she didn't get much of clicks by placing advert on my blog but still she was always there. Her one of the three blogs were always listed in my "Advertiser for Coming Days" and many a weeks when all three of her blogs where there. I thankful to her for every bit she did and her support. Thanks, Marzie for always being here.

Happy Buffday Marzie (i know stupid pic : )

I want

This incident happened yesterday, when i was tweet chatting with one of blogger friend - Mon (Monica) from Trun-u-off.

She tweeted about the her refrigerator scents like durian. She tweeted, "I was greeted with a strong pungent smell of durians the moment I opened the fridge!". Me, on the other hand, thinking what the heck is a durian? So, i googled it and found these beautiful looking delicious fruit, which by the way, i don't know why i haven't heard of till now.
Durian

So, i tweeted back to Mon saying, "i have never had a durian  :( " and at that moment, it hit big time. I thought what if man invents a device or something which can turn images in to real things? Man, that would be awesome. I mean lets not talk about the other bad things which a man can do with it. I mean, then, there will one Priyanka Chopra/Scarlett Johansson  for every guy and one John Abraham/Taylor Lautner  for every girl. We don't have to do anything. We would get anything and everything, anywhere and everywhere.

This is my entry to "My Demand" contest hosted by Indiblogger, sponsored by HP India.  But, i seriously think, they should try making one.

Men Are Dogs

Well, I have been told this a lot of times but until this day, it was never proven. The story I’m writing below proved to me that guys can and will do anything to everything for a girl.

The story is about my friend. He and his “said to be Girlfriend” were in the same batch of the same college. I knew the guy because of a couple of mutual friends. To quote the guy, “I fell for the girl in just one look. It was love at first sight.”

Yea, he was a jerk and at the end you’ll know it too. This girl, whom he always called his girlfriend, never called him his boyfriend in public. They were committed and in a relationship but unfortunately on in public. Whenever asked by other class mates about their relationship, she always denied it and to top it all, she used to go out with other guys too. Yea, the girl was to smart or my friend was a jackass (I have another word to describe the guy but not using it to maintain some decency). But, after college hours are over, the girl used switch mode to his girl friend. She used to go out with him, used to call him over to her home when nobody was around for some ding-dong and used to call him and talk to him everyday from 11-2 PM.

Well, outside college premises, she was the perfect girl friend but what happened to her outside it was a mystery to us and to the guy. We persuaded the guy and convinced him to ask her for a “show cause notice” for not admitting of their relationship publically. So, one day, he recollected all the courage and self-respect (which he lost in the relationship) and asked her in the question:-

BF: - Why didn’t you tell A about our relationship?
GF: - Why does it matter so much to you? Chuck it.
BF: - No, I want an answer today. It’s been more than a year since we started seeing each other and still you are denying our relationship. You didn’t even tell it to the B, when he proposed to you. What are you trying to do?
GF: - Why are you concerned about what others think? You know we are together, then why all these questions?

After, confronting her and a heated discussion, the guy out of rage called her “bitch” and “whore”. In reply, the girl bitch slapped the guy. P.S. All this happened, in the college canteen with more than 50 people. This was the last time they talked.

The girl took the breakup much better than the guy which reflected on the semesters results. The girl excelled with distinction and the guy failed in all five subjects leading to a year back which means he had to repeat the year.

It’s difficult to describe what he went through. This was the worst case of bad romance I had seen, obviously, excluding, a couple of honor killings I saw.

But, this love story made me learn that you should never love a girl to such an extent that she can easily sabotage your life like this. I heard this song on Facebook called “Facebook is a stupid Idiot”; well, for me “Love is also a stupid idiot”.

You Can Call It An Year Now

Hey All,

It's been an year since the day, i left my home and moved to this new city of Bengaluru(Bangalore). Today, i also complete a whole year in my second job for Invidya Solutions pvt. ltd.

Left most with eyes closed.
The year is filled with a lots of first's. And today, i'm only going to talk about the happy first's. So, read on the happy experiences i have had since last year till this date :-

1. The best thing happened to me after moving to Bangalore was the TRIP TO GOKARN. It was the first time, i saw at a sea for me. The first time i saw it, i was amazed by the vastness of it and still is.

2. You can call me independent now. I have been living, on my own for more than 8 months now. I'm responsible for my life here. Not dependent on anyone of any sort.

Black with folded hands, that's me.

3. Blogger's meet. I have attended 2 blogger's meet organized by Indiblogger. I always thought blogger's are these virtual people whom you can't physically meet. But this myth was broken early in this year, when i attended my first blogger's meet. It's always good to give faces to the names.

4. Work is getting better. It obviously is from where it started .....it is in much better conditions.

5. Sea Food. See, the bad part of living is Northern India is, you don't get good sea food which i got to know only after moving here, similarly i no more try to find good chaats in Bangalore, cause it is there. I ate prawns, different fishes(Tuna, being my fav), crabs though i haven't tried any wired stuff.

That's all food in front of us. We sat for close to 2 hours for this buffet.

6. Buffets. I love buffet's, now. After, coming here, my appetite grew drastically. I have attended some 8-10 buffet's and can tell you, if you want to get the worth out of an expensive buffet, i'm your guy.

7. Blogging. Though, i have mentioned it at seventh spot but by no means, it is less important to me. Blogging have been really good for me. I reached an alexa of 67,000 in January, 2010 and mind that it's really good. Then, i got my first Google Page Rank of 3 for the first time in the 3 years of my blog's history. I stood 3rd and 5th while participating in the Indiblogger of the Month for the month of April and May, respectively.

Click to enlarge, You can see my name there. Yaay me!!!!

8. Live Cricket. I saw live cricket for the first time in my life. It was Delhi Dare Devils v/s Bangalore Royal Challengers. It's an amazing feeling to watch a game live.

I know, i look stupid....in most of the pics......but that's me.

Warping it up for the day. Soon, will be writing about the bad first's.

2 - My blog's indirank(given by Indiblogger.in) is now 82(it's is one of those rare times when i scored more than 75-called distinction in India- out of 100)

3 - When i checked Sponsored reviews. com today for opportunity, it showed me more than 100 for whom i was qualified whereas usually it's not more than 5-6.

Also, i received an award from Nalini Hebbar. She is really good poet. Though, i'm not a fan of poetry but she is one of the few i read and yea, credit goes to her.

Thank You, Nalini...........the award coming from you means a lot.

Youngistaan Ka WOW!

eople, this is my post for participating in the Pepsi The Game contest hosted by Indiblogger and sponsored by Pepsi (obviously, what were you thinking).

Question - If you were the Game Master, what challenge would you like to throw to Ranbir?

Answer - Ranbir is very good at imitating Dancing Styles of various Indian Movie Stars...... I would ask him to do a full dance number copying almost all the Indian Actors.

He has done something similar in the Movie Bachna Aye Haseeno.(Watch him from 3:15)

Here, some history .......well for the namesake only (cause almost all Indians know about this and this is for my friends who don't know about this)....i'm posting the video from youtube.

Memoies @ Kyra

Hi All,

As one of my fellow blogger from from Indiblogger said that because it's been a long time since the meet was over, the difference a post about the meet makes a very less. Well, i thought about and said to me "man .. i'm not reviewing the meet....it was an awesome experience, first of it's kind in my life.......so this post is about the memory not the review of some crappy event i was part of".

For people who don't know Indiblogger :- Indiblogger is a community of bloggers from India.

How it got to know

I'm pretty regular at Indiblogger so, i always knew about it since the day it was posted on the community. I was one of the first 50 people to enroll. The limit of participants was kept at 100 but .....but because of the good response(which i know was mostly cause of the Free Beer ) and number of bloggers Bengaluru has, it was soon increased to 150.

On D-day

I'm pretty new to the city still, though i'm very good with directions. So, yea i knew the place where the meet was but i couldn't calculate the time to reach there preciously and ended up to be early, at the venue, by more than 90 mins. There were many other bloggers who were having same problem and ended up reaching the place early....but cause i didn't knew anybody....i didn't recognize anyone. One of the fellow blogger named SARO was also there pretty early which i do remember cause i saw her outside the venue all bored, but cause i didn't knew anything till we met at the meet, didn't do much.

What i did for all those 90 mins??? There was a super market around the place.....i went in there......and shopped for edible items....like juice and soda. Then also called my friends so that i can kill some more time.
@ Kyra

Man, Kyra is some place. They have dinning, awesome bar and there is a theater where you can listen to some really good music. Later, i heard, Kyra was also hosting a show where the Legendary Singer Pete Lockett was supposed to be performing. Man this was huge. I hope lots of people may have turned up for that event too. Kyra Rocks.

Bloggers Met

The meet was one of it's kind because.....let me say that again....because....."I have never seen 100+ bloggers under same roof......we are a rare species and that to on the verge on extinction".

I met a lot of people there. I'm listing a few here. Sorry to the people i forgot......and it's all your fault....you must have left me some thing to remember you.

People I met .....

Dr. Shashikant:- Man i thought Doctors used to busy.....think i'm watchin too much of GREY's ANOTOMY and yea, do add that Dr to his name... :). He brought his friend Himanshu with him, though he was not a blogger but very much wanted to be one. Then, i met Raghavendra,(couldn't find your page) the most inspiring blogger i have ever met. He is an SEO expert and he was the most famous guy in meet. You need to see it to believe it. I was there with him for most of the time and that's how i know how people were excited to meet him. People came over after the meet was over to meet him. Man, he was hit on the day. Then there was Ravinder Joisa, who complained why people can't spell his last name correctly. He works with Raghavendra for IBM

@Bengaluru and he was the first person to ask me about my blog and what i write. Then, during the mingling session, i met some other 10 bloggers and the indiblogger team. People i met, Mohan B.N. (one of the most active people in the community and renowned for his blogging skill), there was this lady named Sowmya (very strong thoughts and man she was argue or more so of discussion.... :) .....) and yea, the girl i talked about earlier ..... Saro(with funny accent, works @ a call center as a trainer and not a frequent blogger  :). I'm not writing her full name....cause i do remember her name, just a hint....and don't wanna mess it up...if that's not the correct one.... :)

One more though, his name was Monish(i messed with his name too....sorry man). He is a Prison Break junkie and what i did....i adviced him to watch Friends or How i met your mother ... what else do you expect from me.....i'm a Friends freak.

Sorry to others who i met but forgot ........ :(

Mingling Session

The organizers asked to meet the other bloggers........and that's wat we did. We all had a paper sheet on our back on which we needed to collects comments and the one with the most....wins....and gets cool Tee's from Indiblogger.

Free Beer

The event was sponsored by the Beer gaint in India "KingFisher". So there was free beer .....happy....not for me....i don't drink.

Disappointments

There was a few disappoints like the event was over to fast.......we were left wishing for more. I was thinking of some cricketing talk especially about IPL.......i think i was the only Delhi DareDevil fan there, i mean hardcore fan. I'm not even participating in a contest for the chief blogger for another team.

So people, this is it.........these are my beautiful memories from the meet.

Hope to bring more interesting memories.

Note:- Pictures are from Ravinder Joisa, visit him for more of his work.

Indi(a)Blogger Sunday Meet

Hey All,

First i apologize for a late post. You can't blame me for it. By now you must know that i'm awesomely lazy. Leave that behind, today's post is about the INDIBLOGGER's blogger meet last sunday.

IndiBlogger

Indiblogger is the bloggers community for all Indian Bloggers. Most of the Indian bloggers are part of this huge community. That was the reason why i joined this community some 3-4 months back. I was recognized soon there as the i got as IndiRank of 75 out of 100. The higher you are, the better you are doing.

Here's the Story

This blogger meet was proposed by one of our fellow blogger named Akhil, how it was sad that at the day he was not able to make it to the meet. But till the date, 10/01/10 ...... there were 34 registration cause there are lot of blogger in the IT City of India, Bengaluru.

First the meet was supposed to be at a Cafe Coffee Day center but cause of the response, it was shifted to POTLUCK Veg Rest. which is owned by one of the fellow Blogger B.K. Birla(also owns asklaila.com, a local search engine). So this was about the venue and talking about the participants, i can proudly say that there were all big shots of blogging. Starting from people who know all about recent technologies to people who were the SEO Guru's to people owning Internet Marketing Companies to people who left their job in MNC and now blogging.

The meet started with everybody coming up and telling about how they got into blogging? what are they doing now? and all different experiences they had while blogging. We called it the Few Minutes of Fame. I liked this part of the meet especially cause till now i knew how i got inspired and started blogging, but now i know how these big shots started blogging and how they made to what they are now?. Can't really describe it in words what experience i gained from the Few Minutes of Fame which being a blogger i should know but as all of you know, i'm not that good at this either.

Guilt

Though, it was a gaining experience where everybody learned something but still there was this discomfort for me being alone. Why i was alone? Well during the Few Minutes of Fame, i got to know that i was only blogger (because i can't recall if anybody else said it) who was blogging for money. Other that me, everybody else was doing it for pleasure or as a hobby. This was the only part where i was trying to hide behind someone but couldn't cause i was sitting right in the middle of group. Then, there was the part when everybody was discussing about Google Page Rank and all the SEO guru's were putting in their best so that people like me can understand and use the info someday but it all bounced over my head.

At the end, i want to thank all the people for being there and having me. B.K. Birla for hosting and sponsoring the meet. Sorry to all the people i met in the meet cause i don't remember the names of all. Yea, i'm bad at remembering names.

Ending the post with pics from the meet. Pics by Rajashekar

B.K.Birla ( Big Smile from Sponsor)                                             Kartik(Indiblogger's chatty)

Everybody Listening Seriously (hope you can find me cause this is the only pic with me there)

No, I found one more of me.

Note:- Above pic is insanely funny. The First word says Kolakata(supposed to be Kolkata). Funny cause KOLA means Banana and Kata means cut. So if your mind is as filthy or dirty as mine, you must have got the funny part of it.
