SkyScanner's SkyScanning

What makes those experiences special which last in our memories for years? Well, it’s not a simple question to answer. Frankly and possibly, this is the first I’m trying to find an algorithm for this “Chemical X”. Let me start then, from the first to the last step.

The meet was started 24 hours when Indiblogger and Skycanner announced contest for the best travel selfie. It started showing soon in my twitter feed and many a Indibloggers started tweeting. I also couldn’t resist the amazing prize of the contest and tweeted a few 7 selfies. I did get a few retweets and favourites from fellow Indibloggers, which started the Skyscanner meet for me on twitter.

The venue - Le Meridien, is possibly the best venue I have came across and I have been to 14 different Indiblogger meets. It has this huge hall which accommodated the biggest Indiblogger meet till now, close to 400 Indiblogger. The lunch was delicious, sumptuous and very well organised too.

The people - I always believe, people around you make the experience special and the bloggers crowd was nothing less than a rockstar. All the people sitting around the table with me were energetic and full of enthusiasm. We were all together laughing at every joke, dancing when asked to, cheering loudly, listening to every point of view presented and enjoying every moment.

Presentations – All presentation and promotions were, gladly, short and precise. Skyscanner promoted their product/webpage in the best concise manner. They rightfully promoted their best features – “Everywhere” and “Monthly and Yearly”- instead of hogging time for commonly found services.

Contests – All the games we played individually or with teams were another reason why this meet was special. The prizes were special too. Actually, I and my team won the team amazing “around-the-world” treasure hunt contest too. This was the first ever team win for me at Indiblogger meets.

Even after writing more than 300 words, I still can point to one reason which puts the Skyscanner meet among the top few. I would give it up to everyone at the meet, the sumptuous lunch, the crazy content we won and new exciting people I met.

Gratitude

Last 24 hours have been really good for be, especially as a blogger/online me.

First, i got this mail from Indiblogger's admin yesterday, saying, i have won a consolation prize for my entry for the contest "Emotional Attyachar", which, by the way, i was not expecting because my entry wasn't even in the top 10 entries but yes in the top 20. Whatever, i don't care....... i won i won......

Second, i got recognition from one of my blogger friends - June Zach from Fledgling Blogger. As greatful and glad i'm to June for listing me on his list of " Blogs that inspire me", but he also included my blog in the list of seven bloggers, who are celebrities in the bloggers world. Others in the list were Eli Gatanela of "Business Sphere" and the page "Vanilla Seven" - who would also make my list of my fav blogs too. Thanks, June for your support, you have been a great supporter of me and my blog.

Third, "The Way It Is" , that's my blog's name, celebrates Marzie M. Nor or Mariuca or Marzie's birthday. She also makes my list of my favorite bloggers in the likes of June Zach, Monica Yong to name a few. Marzie has been a great supporter of my blog. I remember her buying Entrecard advert on my blog even when i was taking a 2-3 month long break from entrecard dropping. I know she didn't get much of clicks by placing advert on my blog but still she was always there. Her one of the three blogs were always listed in my "Advertiser for Coming Days" and many a weeks when all three of her blogs where there. I thankful to her for every bit she did and her support. Thanks, Marzie for always being here.

Happy Buffday Marzie (i know stupid pic : )

I want

This incident happened yesterday, when i was tweet chatting with one of blogger friend - Mon (Monica) from Trun-u-off.

She tweeted about the her refrigerator scents like durian. She tweeted, "I was greeted with a strong pungent smell of durians the moment I opened the fridge!". Me, on the other hand, thinking what the heck is a durian? So, i googled it and found these beautiful looking delicious fruit, which by the way, i don't know why i haven't heard of till now.
Durian

So, i tweeted back to Mon saying, "i have never had a durian  :( " and at that moment, it hit big time. I thought what if man invents a device or something which can turn images in to real things? Man, that would be awesome. I mean lets not talk about the other bad things which a man can do with it. I mean, then, there will one Priyanka Chopra/Scarlett Johansson  for every guy and one John Abraham/Taylor Lautner  for every girl. We don't have to do anything. We would get anything and everything, anywhere and everywhere.

This is my entry to "My Demand" contest hosted by Indiblogger, sponsored by HP India.  But, i seriously think, they should try making one.

A Friend Called "Morale Booster"

I thought this would be the easiest topic to write about. But, it’s proving to be such a pain in the rear. Actually, this is all happening cause this is the first time I’m trying to categorize my friends as best, good and not-so-good friends. It’s because of the same reason it’s so difficult to choose one especial person from a huge group of people.

Sam And Frodo

The choice, really, isn’t easy for me. I had to go really deep down memory lane to recollect all those instances when and where someone became my savior for the day. Who is that one person? Can it be my friend who got beaten up, for the thing I did, by the teacher and he didn’t blame it on me. Can it be my friend who helped me with my studies, even if helping me, at that moment could have affect S’s own results? Or is it the person who trusts me more than anyone and shares secrets with me?

I tried searching internet for a definition of a Best Friend, so that, I can fit in one person from my life to it and see if he/she matches the ideal/best friend’s arguments. But friend/best friend is one term/word which even google couldn’t define.

So, to come out of this dilemma, I choose, which can be categorized as THE lamest question, the “Who is that one person (friend) I’d take with me to a deserted island??”

The only name which came to my mind was of S’s. S is one person who has always been there. S is my “I’ll be there for you” person. Some one who’d always be there when I look behind. S has never bored me. S is the only person with whom I can converse with more than 5 mins without getting distracted. S is the person who picks my calls even if I call at 2 in the midnight.
Chandler and Joey

S and I go long back. We were school classmates. I exactly remember the day when I joined my new school and my class teacher told me go sit with S as she knew me and S come from same locality and that I knew S before. We spent 7 great school years together. We used to spend the whole summer vacation together, if, not waiting for each other to return. It’s difficult to describe how we came close and how the bond became stronger. It wasn’t just one moment which changed everything. It was an effort we both had put, over the years, in every moment, every other day to build up the trust we share today.

Today, it’s been exactly one year and three months since I left my home (1st May 09). But, cause of S, I never feel alone in this city even when I’m living alone here. S told me to call S whenever and whatever it is about and it was S’s word which S always stood by. I don’t miss here in Bangalore because S is the first person I talk to whenever I’m alone.

Jai And Veeru

S is my “Morale Booster”. I gave S the nick name “morale booster” a couple of months ago. It was, again, one those “not my best” days coupled with lonely night in Bangalore. I called up S as usual and we had which I described THE best conversation, though I don’t remember all of our conversations but this one is definitely going to be with me for a long time. I was low because of all the happy news I was hearing about my friends like someone getting promoted, another getting married, one becoming a father and then someone buying a home. That day S told me, “When you are aiming for success, it’s the direction which matters not the pace”. This raised my confidence to the highest level for next 3 days before my fickle nature again brought it down. I don’t know how S does it, but it seems pretty easy for S to induce confidence in me, though, S is still working on making it last longer.

I know S isn’t an extraordinary person. You don’t have to be to touch someone’s life. Friendship is a beautiful relationship. Your friends are reflections of how good are you at decision making. Yea, it’s filmy to say but you choose your friends and being friend with S is one decision which proves that I don’t suck at decision making. I’ll also take it as a reference of my decision making skill.

I still don’t know what’s a definition of a best friend? But, for time being, I think I’ll leave it off at “S”.

Men Are Dogs

Well, I have been told this a lot of times but until this day, it was never proven. The story I’m writing below proved to me that guys can and will do anything to everything for a girl.

The story is about my friend. He and his “said to be Girlfriend” were in the same batch of the same college. I knew the guy because of a couple of mutual friends. To quote the guy, “I fell for the girl in just one look. It was love at first sight.”

Yea, he was a jerk and at the end you’ll know it too. This girl, whom he always called his girlfriend, never called him his boyfriend in public. They were committed and in a relationship but unfortunately on in public. Whenever asked by other class mates about their relationship, she always denied it and to top it all, she used to go out with other guys too. Yea, the girl was to smart or my friend was a jackass (I have another word to describe the guy but not using it to maintain some decency). But, after college hours are over, the girl used switch mode to his girl friend. She used to go out with him, used to call him over to her home when nobody was around for some ding-dong and used to call him and talk to him everyday from 11-2 PM.

Well, outside college premises, she was the perfect girl friend but what happened to her outside it was a mystery to us and to the guy. We persuaded the guy and convinced him to ask her for a “show cause notice” for not admitting of their relationship publically. So, one day, he recollected all the courage and self-respect (which he lost in the relationship) and asked her in the question:-

BF: - Why didn’t you tell A about our relationship?
GF: - Why does it matter so much to you? Chuck it.
BF: - No, I want an answer today. It’s been more than a year since we started seeing each other and still you are denying our relationship. You didn’t even tell it to the B, when he proposed to you. What are you trying to do?
GF: - Why are you concerned about what others think? You know we are together, then why all these questions?

After, confronting her and a heated discussion, the guy out of rage called her “bitch” and “whore”. In reply, the girl bitch slapped the guy. P.S. All this happened, in the college canteen with more than 50 people. This was the last time they talked.

The girl took the breakup much better than the guy which reflected on the semesters results. The girl excelled with distinction and the guy failed in all five subjects leading to a year back which means he had to repeat the year.

It’s difficult to describe what he went through. This was the worst case of bad romance I had seen, obviously, excluding, a couple of honor killings I saw.

But, this love story made me learn that you should never love a girl to such an extent that she can easily sabotage your life like this. I heard this song on Facebook called “Facebook is a stupid Idiot”; well, for me “Love is also a stupid idiot”.

Karna - Ideal, If Not Perfect

Karna, the guy was a legend, also called the tragic hero of Mahabharat. He is my favorite character among all from Mahabharat. I admire Karna's character from Mahabharat for a lot of reason but if I have to point out that one thing which I loved the most about him was his courage to fight against the destiny. He was a guy who never had anything, lived in adverse conditions but still became better warrior than Arjun, who was a prince and had everything thing at his disposal.

People say, "When a man is put under pressure by life, his true character emerges". Drona denied Karna to teach the art of warfare and then insulted him saying that he should stick to his caste duties. But, Karna didn't back out. This only strengthened his will to learn the art of warfare, even, if he didn't have a guru to teach. Karna then decided to be self-taught. Karna was determined and thus, worked hard. When Karna heard that Arjun succeeded in the "shoot the bird in the eye" trick, which Drona conducted to test his pupils skills, he told his brother that he will hit both eyes of the bird with a single arrow and eventually, he did hit both eyes of the bird with a single arrow which he achieved within a short period of practice and that too at night. This is one of the many small instances in Karna's life which proved his potential to become a great warrior and eventually that's what he achieved, everlasting glory and immortal fame.

After Drona’s rejection, Karna went to Parshuram for learning the advanced art of warfare. Parshuram, who taught everybody other than kshtriyas , concluded that Karna was a kshtriyas seeing his ability to withstand immense pain. He then cursed Karna that he will forget everything he taught when he will need them the most. This cruse ultimately proved to be fatal as Karna died cause of the curse.

After learning the art, Karna determined to earn a respectful place in the society, went on and challenged Arjun in a duel during archery tournament, held by Bhishma to showcase his grandson’s skills. But, Kripacharya, the army in chief of Kuru’s, denied the duel asking Karna for his clan and kingdom as only a Prince can challenge a Prince. Duryodhan saw karna as an advantage that he can have over Pandavs as they were better than Kauravs in the art of warfare. He immediately offered Karna the throne of Anga and made him the king of Anga. Karna and Duryodhan became good friends after his incident. Even though, Karna was a kshtriyas by now, by merit if not by birth, but no one agreed to that and always looked towards him as a shudra/shoot putra/ charioteer’s son.

Karna was a loyal friend and proved it time and again. Karna helped Duryodhan in marrying princess Chitragandha. Duryodhand, after being rejected at the princess’s swayamvar, took her by force. Many of the kings stood against him but Karna defeated them all alone.

Even though, Karna supported Duryodhan almost at every instance but he never agreed to his deceit and trickery strategies to kill Pandavs. Karna may be said to be on the wrong side but he neither did wrong nor supported wrong. After knowing about, Shakuni’s and Duryodhan’s attempt to kill Pandavs in the “House of Lac”, he condemned the act saying him to be a warrior as ways of cowards are doomed to failure.

Even though Karna was an ideal human being, but still he wasn’t perfect. Karna had a couple of moments in his life for which he will always be looked down for but, for me, that simply proves that he was no god. First, was when he didn’t came for Draupadi’s rescue during the game of dice and then insulted her saying that a women with more than 4 husband is nothing else than a whore. After reading all about karma, I thought, he could have avoided it but we can also say that it was Draupadi who started it. She rejected Karna participation in her Sawayamvar saying that Karna is a shootputra/ son of a charioteer but I agree that no argument can justify what Karna did.

Another moment of shame for Karna was when he with other 5 member of Kaurav sena came together to kill Abhimanyu. It was against the rules of war. There have been justifications for this act of Karna too. People say, it was Drona who created the Chakarayu which was meant to kill Arjun by cornering him that’s why people blame Drona for the conspiracy. But I don’t agree to it. Karna was equally responsible for killing a lone and helpless Abhimanyu.

Karna was a man of words and principles. He always supported Duryodhan even when Duryodhan was wrong. Krishna told him, "Your integrity is wasted on a man without integrity". To which Karna replied, "The hand of friendship once given can't be taken back". Krishna knew that Karna is Duryodhan's strength. So, he sent Kunti to talk to Karna and tell him the secret of his birth. When kunti told Karna about his birth and asked him to join Pandavs and become the king of Indraprasth, as Yudhisthir would step as Karna was the oldest of her sons. But, Karna didn't agree to the proposal. He said to kunti that if she had told her this when he challenged Arjun for a duel in the tournament, the first time when kunti recognized him as his son cause of his armor and earring, then everything would have been different but it was too late to go back. But, he promised Kunti that after the war she will have 5 sons. He won't kill any of the Pandavs other than Arjun. He stood firm on his words and after joining the war of Mahabharat on the Eleventh day, he defeated all the Pandav's and spared their life because of his promise to Kunti, except Arjun.

By the end of Mahabharat, Karna proved to be one of the best warriors of Mahabharat. One of the instances was when even Krishna applauded for his efforts in the war. During Mahabharat, when Karna arrow pushed Arjun's chariot by a couple of feet behind, Krishna applauded for Karna. Arjun asked Krishna that why didn't you applaud me when my arrow pushed his chariot behind? To which, Krishna replied saying that you have me, the weight of three worlds on your side and Hanuman on top of your chariot and still his arrow made such an impact. If we haven't been on your side............your chariot would have been orbiting the earth right now.

Karna's character is an inspiration. Perseverance in the face of adversity, proving himself better than the destiny and achieving everything with determination are a few of the attributes of Karna's character. Again, for what I think, he is the ideal man if not perfect.

Answer - Ranbir is very good at imitating Dancing Styles of various Indian Movie Stars...... I would ask him to do a full dance number copying almost all the Indian Actors.

He has done something similar in the Movie Bachna Aye Haseeno.(Watch him from 3:15)

Here, some history .......well for the namesake only (cause almost all Indians know about this and this is for my friends who don't know about this)....i'm posting the video from youtube.

Pee In The Pant Moment

Hi all,

Today, when i was in the bus coming to my office, i heard about this contest on Radio where they where doing this contest. The contest theme was "Pee In The Pant Moment".

Although i didn't called them and participated, but still i thought what was i my "Pee In The Pant Moment". Then, i went deep into my heart and started rewinding things.

Then, i found one moment. This is from my college days. Me and a couple of my friends were playing Table Tennis in the gym. The college gym was inside the boys hostel. After sometime, the guys who lived in the hostel came and asked us to leave and let them play. But we didn't want to leave the game in between and we didn't afraid of them. So after some loud argument, it became a fight. And, soon one of those five guys pulled a iron rod out of somewhere, and that was my "Pee In The Pant Moment". I was stunned, standing there like a mannequin. I was so afraid at that moment thinking what will happen if that guy hits me with that rod. Although, i didn't really pee in my pants........but that was something......which could have made me do it.

What happened after that? Thank god, one of my friend was not out of his senses and he kicked that guy and took the rod from him and threw it away and saved me. I really thank my friends who were there.

After that incident, we three people were like so popular in the college. Everybody knew as the people who beat the hostelers in the hostel........it was like killing a Lion inside its own den. They all must have thought that we were really brave to do that......but they didn't knew the real "Pee In The Pant Moment".

Note :-
Ok, here's the catch. Tell me your Pee in the pant moment and if i'll like it.......then the winner will get 1000 EC from me. So, let's do it. The Contest is here for a of couple days. Till 28, Oct.
