X-Men: First Class -------- Grand

Being already missed Kung Fu Panda 2's in theaters, i didn't want to take any risk with X-Men: First Class and went into the theater right on the first day of the release. Although, i hadn't think of it earlier to watch it right on friday, however, it worked out perfectly for me, though i had to run for it and even missed a couple of early minutes of the movie. Any who, i was on time to catch most of it.

Cast

I was thrilled to see James McAvoy's name in the cast. I could watch a movie only for this guy. I have seen a few of his movies and loved them all. James is possibly one of the best of actors at present. Other than him, the whole cast was new to me.

About

There were many a moments in the movie when mouth was wide open and jaw lying on the floor like the moment when Megneto turns the satellite's receiver face or when he lifts the sub marine out of the water and carries it to the coast. You'll know when you'll see those propeller out in the wind and turning right in front of your face. Something tell me that i have already told you about how good the action is in the movie and it is bettered by the brilliant camera work.

But the best part about the movie was the performance delivered by the two leads of the movie - James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. Well, it seemed like a competition or healthy competition where both tried to out run each other performance wise, however, both were equally brilliant. James was so real while portraying Charles Xavier and the way he displayed the calmness of Prof. X on screen is one of the high points about the movie.

Michael as Megneto was a surprise to me. May to people, who have seen him earlier, his performance didn't came as a shocker but it so so was for me. This is first Michael Fassbender movie where i recognized him, even though i have seen Inglorious Basterds and 300, however, i didn't where he was in those movies. The scene where Charlers tell him about finding inspiration from the memories between rage and serenity and then Erik turns the satellite receiver face was one of the many scenes of the movie which i'll always remember.

There are other performers who managed to not be over shadowed by James and Michael among whom my two favs are Jennifer Lawrence (Raven/Mystique) and Kevin Bacon (Sebastian Shaw).

All in all, the movie is such a refresher and brings back the belief of the audience back in to the X-Men franchise especially after the not so great X3 and X Men Origin - Wolvorine.


Good Things

Everything's good about this movie. If you are a X-Men fan, then, this movie will satisfy your all your urges and then, will leave you to want more. At the end of the movie, the only thing in my head was when will i be able to see the next X-Men movie.

And I just wish that this time, the X-Men franchise sticks with Matthew Vaughn for good and bring peace to the X-Men Fans.

Another thing, i want to do before closing this post is to appreciate a man, and i do wanted to do this since a long time, Stan Lee. The guy who have been the greater force who visualized the character and their powers. He who can easily be called as the father of modern comics.

This movie is a must watch for everyone who have ever seen a mutant movie or read a comic or even heard about it or even if haven't heard about it.

The Manchurian Candidate

Again, i found this movie while i was wandering around IMDB looking for some good movies. As Denzel Washington is one of my fav actors, well, actually he would easily top that list. So, i was looking for a Denzel Washington movie, which i came across this one...............and you know what was the plus point to this one. It also has Meryl Streep in the cast. Now, i think this is the only Denzal - Meryl movie made. Though, can't confirm it.

Talking about the movie, The Manchurian Candidate is a remake of a 1962 classic, named the same. Looking at the star cast of the movie, i was talking to myself that i have to watch this movie. So, got down to the local video library to get one.....and saw it this weekend.

Cast

I don't think you have anything to say, if you see Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep in the cast. My expectations from the movie raised to another level, just by looking at the star cast it had. Another good performer in the star cast was Liev Schreiber, who is very convincing in his character as "Raymond Shaw".


About The Movie


The movie starts in middle of Gulf War......where a small troop of soldiers is cornered by the enemy. Cut-to a few years later, Denzel(Major Marco) is praising Liev(Raymond) of his bravery and how he saved lives of other member of their team. Raymond Shaw receives the Medal of Honor for his bravery, the highest a soldier can get. But somewhere in the unconscious mind of Major Ben Marco, there is a dream that on that night......nothing like that happened. That, Raymond Shaw was not the person who saved them. 

One day, Ben Marco meets a man who was with him on that night. The guy also tells the Ben Marco about the strange dreams he has been having. Major Marco is amazed cause whatever the guy tells is the same as he used to see in his dreams. Now, he starts investigating about the whole issue. Raymond Shaw, son of Senetor Eleanor Shaw(Meryl Streep), is standing in the presidential Election. Major Marco tries to get in touch with Raymond but whenever is does, he couldn't convince Raymond about his dreams. While searching for evidence, Marco comes across a dark truth which leaves him in a shock. There is a Manchurian Trust, which was responsible of all this. They have hypnotized Raymond Shaw and since the gulf was night, have been manipulating his mind, something similar to what they did to him and his team member too.

He finds out that Manchurian group people are trying to put a person, on the president's seat, who is like a robot of their own.

How does Major Marco comes around this whole mess? Does Raymond Shaw know what he is doing? What is this whole Manchurain Trust?

Good Things

You can count every bodies performance as a big plus point to the movie. Movie has a good storyline and also has some thrill to it.

Bad Points

Not so convincing Screenplay and Direction. The movie also feels incomplete cause at the end, you still have more questions....which are left unanswered.
Movies pace is slow too. Think there were a few moments which could have been deleted especially because it's a long movie.....more than 2 hours.


At the end, though it's a good movie, however i won't recommend it to people who like watching comedies and fun movies, there is nothing in this movie for you people.

Shutter Island - Another Martin-Leo Masterpiece

I think, The Shutter Island would easily qualify for the most awaited movies of this year. There are many reasons first it's a Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio and every-bodies expectations just rise to a different just after listening to these names.



Cast

This is an great ensemble of actors.

Leonardo DiCaprio has nothing to prove but he does always shows that he is just improving though he don't have to, he is already at a level were he is a legend.

Ben Kingsley, a living legend. I saw this movie after watching Elegy some 15 days back.....and can easily tell you.....that he is a delight to watch.

Mark Ruffalo, while watching the movie, i wished if Mark Wahlberg was given this part but then i thought Mark was perfect for the part, though he didn't start at a good note but he raised his performance during the movie.....and was very convincing in the end.

Other than the three major character, everybody was good.........which made the movie a convincing act.

Storyline



Well, this is a suspense-thriller and talking much about the movie can actually mess up all the thrill of watching it. But just to lure you towards the movie, i'm going to tell you somethings. The movie starts with Leo(Ted Daniels) with his partner Mark(Chuck) are going to the Shutter Island to investigate about the suspicious get away of Rachel Solondares, who is a patient at shutter island. Ted starts investigating with Chuck and as he starts digging deep into the case, he starts finding some really dark secrets about the Shutter Island which if exposed can be very devastating but he needs to prove it. But, he can not trust anyone on the Island, he has no friend. How does he collect all the evidences and how will he get off the island and go to the world to tell the story of shutter island is the things to watch for.

It's an amazing story and hail to the director(Martin Scorsese) and Laeta Kalogridis for the screenplay. The movie gives you all kind of shivers like horror when you see all those mentally ill patients, thrill and suspense are the major part of the movie and it has the love angle too.

Good Things

By the time you reach this part of the post.....you must have known this is a must watch movie and everything about it is worth watching.

This is a highly recommended movie, a must watch or whatever you people call it but do watch this movie, you won't regret it. For all the people from home(India), you can expect for this movie to release soon.

I loved the movie. As a kid, i used to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon series and the movies is just a step ahead. I'm a big fan of Alvin and Theodore. I love the chipette's too. They are fun, funny and watching the movie as a kid or with a kid is an awesome experience.

Now, i'm some 23 years.........and being a big fan of the Alvin and the Chipmunks, i really wanted to watch the movie. But i knew if i would ask my friends or girl friend to watch this movie with me......they gonna make fun of me. So, i told the news that Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel gonna release in India to my little cousins and they agreed to come with me and yaay...i have someone to go with.

I have bought one of the DVD's and gave it to my cousin and now i'm their fav big brother. One of the best thing about the movie is that it's a family movie. You can sit and watch the movies with the whole family and though it may sound kids movie to you........but take it from me, the adults will also like this movie.

Pankh - Expectations

Hey All,

I don't know how many of you know about Pankh .....but this is a movie to see in the near future. It is releasing on April 4th. I have huge expectations from the movie. It is one of those rare bold movie which tries to challenge the society and their hypocrisy.
Also, it tries to explore the human mind. Human mind is as vast as a sea or the universe. There are countless emotions .......emotions you may haven't experienced yet. Emotions, feeling you may not be even get to feel in your lifetime.

What's new in this movie??

Well, same was the question i was asking but when i started searching information about the storyline, i was sadly amazed by the fact that these things has happened in this world earlier.

The Movie is about a young boy, who works in movies as a child actor. But his looks are bit girly and that's why he is mostly casted to play the Girl child in the movies. His mother also promotes this and pushes him cause of the family is poor.The pressure from family and status of the family makes it a sad situtation. This affects the boy's mind, creating gender confusion in his mind. Now, he gets confused about his likings......he thinks is what he does or likes is feminine.

Then, the young boy becomes a teen and wants to be a movie star now. He also has a Imaginary love of his life played by Bipasha Basu, who fights with him, argues with him.

The movie carries on with same confusion......cause i haven't seen the movie.....i don't know any more about the movie.

Cast

The cast of the movies is fairly unknown .......unknown as in they may not be known by many people ......but who so ever knows them.....remembers them because of there brilliant work. The cast boasts of Lilette Dubey, Ronit Roy, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Maradona Rebello and Bipasha Basu. Bipasha, is the most known actor i believe in the list, plays the imaginary love of Maradona and also will be seen portraying 9 different characters. Lilette Dubey is a renowned theater actor across India. She has also worked in movies like Kal Ho Naa Ho, Aap Ke Khatir etc. Ronit Roy and Sanjeeda Sheikh are two television personalities....and well known for there respective work.



Real Life Exmaple

This practice is quite common in Indian Movie Industry. Ahsaas Channa is one living example. She is a girl....but have been portraying a boy character in the movies. One of the recent movie she did where she played a boy was "My Friend Ganesha" and "My Friend Ganesha 2". Though about the confusion and all...may not be true here. But, that is an imagination of the director's or writer's mind.

Bold and New Face Of Indian Movies

Though, these kind of movies are less in number, but surely the movie makers are now trying to present something new to the audiences. It not like everyone wants to make romantic movies or action or comedies. The best thing is that.....now a day the audience is also accepting these kind of movies. Though those people may not be large in number but they are there. These kind of movies need to be support more than than ...these kind of director should be supported. So that people .....atleast people like me......can see the something new on the screen and don't have to switch to Hollywood or any other countries movies for a different range of movies.




I really hope this will be a good movie with good narration and everything. I want these movies to work cause this promotes the new age of cinema.

Julie and Julia - Writer to Reader

One Oscar Nomination - Meryl Streep (Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role)
 Julie and Julia is a blogger's dream. Julie who has lost everything till now but not her loving and encouraging and SAINT husband. Julie started as a writer, which is also her dream to be a big big writer with lots of money, but now she is working as a call center executive. So, encouraged by her husband, she starts blogging. At start, she goes through the same, what to write when she finds her passion of cooking. She goes through her favorite book "Mastering The Art Of French Cooking". She picks it up and decides to cook and blog about the 524 recipe. She wants to complete this thing as she thinks she hasn't completed anything which she started.

On the other hand, the movie also shows, in parallel, the life of Julia Child's. Julia child, who is forced to move to Paris, France when her husband was transferred to France. She goes through a lot of different activities or hobbies so that she can remain occupied but nothing works out. So, she starts cooking and learning French Cooking. She meets different people who liked her cooking. She also finds friends or colleauges and inspiration to write a book so that Americans can also learn french cooking. So after 8 years of stuggle and wait she finally publishes the best seller's of all time cook books.

The movie boasts of Meryl Steep "the best actress" for me atleast. No need to say that you should look for Meryl Streep, cause she stands out from the other cast. Amy adams has done a brilliant work to keep up with Meryl Streep though both of them aren't sharing screen space.

Watch this movie and you'll be a fan of Meryl Streep, if in case you were not till now.

The Hurt Locker

The Hurt Locker (9 Oscar Nomination)

One of the most amazing movies of last year. Boasting of some exceptional performances by Jeremy Renner and Anthony Mackie. This is the first Jeremy Renner movie i have seen and almost half way through i was confused him as James Mcavoy. Yes, he does resembles him......but acting is much of a contrast.

The story is about a person, Team Leader of a Bomb Squad who is placed in Iraq. This guy is very passionate about his job of saving people and saving bombs from blasting. He goes to the limit during his jobs. Especially look out for the work he does while disposing a bomb placed in car outside a school. Every member of the team were, the feeling i think was, afraid by the measures this guy take to dispose a bomb when he can simple leave it while no one is getting hurt.

There were many instances which showed a different perspective of his guy. He calls home but doesn't talk to his wife not even want to talk to his new born kid. This one moment felt to me like what is this guy? He is living at a place where he doesn't know will he live to watch  the dawn tomorrow, still he won't contact his family. Then when he posting in Iraq was over, he was sent back to home but he was never comfortable at home. He was more eager to go back and fight for his country. May be soldiers are mad about their countries.

Then on the other hand where the other two guys in the team, Anthony Mackie and Brian Geraghty who are counting their days in Iraq and will be very happy to go back home without losing anything and anyone. But as the movie open, their team leader dies in a blast and then they have this fear creeping in that though they are always covered with hundreds of America soldiers, death can still touch them.

A especial mention for Kathryn Bigelow, the director. I have always believed whatever the movie looks on the screen good, bad, exceptional or pathetic, it's all cause of the director. She has done a brilliant work through this movie. Hope to see more good work from her.

This is one movie which you'll regret if you miss.

Changes Are Here

Yea, i never thought that my life will change. I hate changes so much that still i want to get back and make everything exactly as it was. But i know, change is the natural phenomena. I have grown. Moved out. These are the big moments of your life. Need of compromise.

Some of the things i have lost while moving from my Teens to responsibilities :

1 Cricket - Man i miss my cricketing days. Its not that i can't play now but its really tough to get people around you raise up to play cricket. No one wants to, also i know time is a big issue. But i want to, i can take out time for it but no body else. But i know one day, i'll be back there.

2 Movies - If you are wondering why i have almost stopped writing about the movies and everthing......... cause i'm not watching much these days......in college life, i used to watch atleast one movie a day on an average but now......its not even once a week and the main or primary reason for this is Time which i don't get now.

3 F'n'F - I miss my friends and family. I never thought they would ever mean so much to me. And yea, you will never know till the day you go away. I left my home, my city for job and moved to a new place. Yea, i have friends here......but still i lived there for 21 years of my life. Its not that easy.

4 Blogging - Yea, another thing. I liketo write. One place i can express no matter what happen. I like being here. But another issue with blogging...... i get time only in the weekends to do it. But i make sure i do it atleast on weekends and visit you all in the weekdays.

New York -- Watch It For Kat

The hype of the movie is great, everybody was waiting for the movie. A good cast with a National award winner director Kabir khan. His last movie got him the national award, the best a director can get in India. Many things contributes to the popularity of this movie. Good cast, people like John Abraham, Katerina Kaif, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Irrfan khan. Another reason, it got released after a drought of movie when there was no release for more than 2 months. Good music, atleast 3 songs were great hit.




Ok here goes. This is good movie and go ahead and watch it. This is movie has a good stroy which has been directed the best way it could be.

Good points about the movie - watch this movie for Katerina kaif. I haven't seen anything like this before from her. She have given a lot of hits earlier but this is the only instance i have liked her. She always felt so plastic in earlier movies she has done. But this time it isn't like that. She has done really good job. She was so convincing in the movie that sometimes she can make you cry with her.



A good script is a major reason for this movie to succeed. Other people in the cast have also done good job. Irrfan khan, no need to say anything about him. You can just count on him everytime. Niel and John were also good in the movie but you can say that there was a possiblity of making it better.

Watch this movie because there is no good movie lined up for the next couple of weeks.

My Best Friend's GirlFriend -- Expected Dane Cook

I have seen Dane's one more movie before watching this one and he was playing somewhat a simillar kind of character as a Casanova. So its getting a bit boring, take my advice Dane, try something new next time. Other in the cast include, Kate Hudson whom i love cause she is so beautiful and that too one record. But she is not doing so good from the last 2-3 years, i believe. I mean Fool's Gold, Bride's war and this , i think she must have a good reason for these movies. I don't rate any of these movies or the character she played to match her caliber which i did saw when i saw her in some of her earlier movie. Another important character is played by Jason Biggs, can't understand why he can't get out of his "American Pie" hangover. He felt so similar in this one too. Just at a different level. I think all these three people should make some drastic changes to themselves because if they keep movies and charaters like what they have always done....count the atleast one who won't be watch that movie.

Wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone. I know you people have seen a lot of movie where one guy is a tatol loser and to get the girl he wants he takes help from another guy(in this movie as the name suggests the other guy is his own friend). Then the girl falls for the other guy but the other guy is guilty about that he stabbed his friendship and now he acts as an asshole so that the girl goes back to the original guy but when the original guy finds out that his friends loves her more than him, he plans to get them together again. I mean, come on. Its like same story just played by a different cast.

One good thing about the movie, the 10 reasons for Dane Cook to be an asshole on the dates. They showed it two times in the movie and those were the only 5 mins of the movie i liked .

Hairspray -- Find Out John There

Yes, i took a long time to watch this movie. But what to do...... i heard this movie was a musical because of which i was trying to avoid this movie. Musical movies are my genre. You can say this is my first musical english movie, i may have seen some hindi or Indian Musical Movies but never a movie out India. Musicals are boring that was the same thing i was thinking before watching this movie. Also i have seen some trailors from Woody Allen's some movie.....i'm sorry if made any mistakes while spelling his name out, i know he is legend there.

Ok, now turning to this movie again. It is one of those fairy tales where there is one ugly girl who always dreamt to make it big one day but never was able to. The lead character is a fat girl who wants to be a part of on going HIT T.V. musical show. She likes the way they perform on the TV and the way they enjoy there dance. But she is always discouraged to be one of them, especially my her mother, guess who?????? John Travolta. Yes, John plays her mother in the movie. She also goes for the audition for the TV show but gets rejected badly. But once while dancing in the Detention room of her school she catches the eye of one of the members of the same TV unit. She alasts makes it big on the TV...........everybody loves her, sorry did i say everybody, but here comes the two ugly twins....i meant two characters which did like her making big on their show. So they try to get rid of her. How they do so ? or if they succed in it or not? is the story.

The good things about the movie are :- A must watch performance by John Travolta. I have not seen him much ..... not many of his movies....but all of the one i have seen this is the best one. Second good thing, movie have a lot of good songs starting which Good Morning Baltimore!!!!, also acompanies is great music and awesome Choreography. There also good performances by the other leading character espeically the girl protaganist TRACY ........ sorry again i don't know the real name and right now i also don't have an internet connection. Amanda Bynes looked cute...especially she was sucking on that lolly pop the whole time in the movie.

Bad things about the movie, being a musical, it has a lot of song and dance sequenses and if you are not a musical movie fan, you tend to get bored. Another the movie is very predictable but that can be given to the movie, i mean its not a thriller or murder mystry.

99 -- What is happening to Kunal

What the Fuck is Kunal Khemu upto these days. He is developing into one of those actor who are disappointing me everyday. I mean he raised a lot of expectations when he made a comeback or debut as a main lead and carried it very impressivly. Also following on with another typical Kunal Khemu style in "Traffic Signal" but after that its always been a slump. Look at the choices he made. And this is another movie to that string also.
When the trailors started, i was like excited, its a kunal khemu movie must be good and also with a really impressive cast. People like Soha ali khan, Boman Irani, Cyrus Brocha and Mahesh manjrekar who have done good work many a times. But i think the weekness of the movie was the screenplay and direction. I thought after watching the movie that could have been shown better on the screen.
The only thing good i found about the movie was the song, goes like "Aaye hai badshah". That's it, yea that's it, there wasn't even a single good about the movie that i could find.
I don't know anything about the technicalities of the movie making. Take me as a lame man or layman, what i wanted is some entertainment and the movie couldn't even live upto it. So won't suggest to watch this movie. Save you money.
